Recursive Process

When visiting my early work and paying close attention to my revising I notice that I have shifted my focus when revising. Initially, I would try to add more content or throw in a few quotes to make my paper “look” better. After taking this course and paying close attention to how we revised I have learned that it is important to have the right content in your paper. I wouldn’t really remove anything if I had initially put it in when writing. But I have learned that sometimes I can give an over excessive amount of information without explaining what something means or why it is important to the paper. In my paper on literacy narratives I noticed that my initial introduction was too bland and didn’t explain enough. My peers helped me through this by suggesting definitions for some of the things I mentioned in the intro that way readers would understand what I was talking about. An example of this was when Chloe suggested I define literacy  narratives and victim narratives as well as to use a source when doing so. This not only lengthened my paper but informed readers what narratives are and the different types of narratives there are. Another thing that helped me in the revision was adding in new paragraphs. My old conclusion didn’t really feel like it wrapped up the paper but I felt it did have some valuable information. So I left it in my paper with a few minor adjustments made and created a new conclusion that made me feel satisfied with my ending. I also enjoyed working on punctuation which is something I’m not really good with. I think this class and paper helped me work on that a little and I’m glad that we got that we got to work with this a little.
